Faith Zone Volunteer Teachers & Shepherds In the Faith Zone, volunteer teachers and volunteer shepherds have job descriptions that list the personal qualities necessary for their positions, specific responsibilities of their jobs and the specific commitments of the volunteer Christian Education Committee to them.
The Christian Education Committee realized that the largest group of volunteers in the Faith Zone was without a job description with clear expectations and support. That group was the children, the very learners for whom 140 volunteers have been recruited this year to provide caring, loving, faith building experiences.
So, the volunteer Christian Education Committee developed a job description for volunteer learners in the Faith Zone and will ask each volunteer learner’s class to discuss and then accept the following Volunteer Learner Job Description. 2008 - 2009 Faith Zone
Volunteer Learner
A learner is a child in a Faith Zone class.
Qualities of a Volunteer Learner
A child who wants to learn more about God and God’s love.
A child who respects people and is willing to try new activities.
Responsibilities
Come to class as often as possible.
Be kind and helpful to the other learners and adults in your class.
Bring your Bible to class (3rd grade and older).
Cooperate with the experience planned for the day.
Listen while the leaders and other learners are talking.
Adult Leaders in the Faith Zone acknowledge that there are days when children may have a difficult time with their responsibilities. In other words, everyone can have a bad day. If a child’s behavior is disruptive or disrespectful, that child will leave the class and assist the adults in the Christian Education Office until the end of the Faith Zone hour.
